Breitling, Watches With Integrity

Breitling, precision timepieces

In 1884 Mr. Breitling founded his watch company, although he would be appalled if he heard me call it that.  Breitling’s vision held a scope far beyond making timepieces…he wanted to create precision instruments for professionals.  Instruments such as chronographs and stop watches for aviators were the first pieces Breitling put out.

In the early 1900’s wristwatches became more mainstream and Breitling was the first to offer a wrist-worn chronograph.  In fact, Breitling was the inventor of the push-piece, a separate part that would operate the chronographic features of the watch.  The push-piece would start, stop, and reset the stop watch function, with a single button.

The company’s innovation and dedication to excellence has maintained its reputation, and continues to come up with amazing watches.  The models include the Navitimer, the Windrider, the Professional, and the Aeromarine.    All of these models are offered in various styles, but none of them are ordinary watches…they art technological works of art.

If precision and accuracy are on the top of your list of priorities, a Breitling watch is the cream of the crop.  The company warns not to attempt to purchase a Breitling on the internet.  The watches offered on the web may not be authentic and if you want the real deal, you must buy from an authorized dealer.

By the way, please check out their website…it is full of information and as impressive as their impeccably crafted instruments.

Movado Offers Timeless Style

Movado watches define style

Back in 1881, when 19 year old Achille Ditesheim founded Movado, I wonder if he had the vision of what this company would become.  From his small village in Switzerland, is it possible he had could imagine the 100 patents and the 200 International awards that would be part of the Movado legacy…or was he, simply following his passion?

Design, innovation, and quality are keywords when thinking of Movado.  Creating many of the most sought-after timepieces has made Movado famous.  The company didn’t stop with their dedication to beautiful design, there was enormous attention paid to functionality and comfort.  In 1912 Movado patented a revolutionary movement, designed to fit into a case that was curved to the line of the wrist.  These, seemingly small adjustments made huge differences in the look and feel of a Movado watch.

The most well-recognized watch in the line is the Museum.  It is presented with a clean, blank face, only embellished with a single dot at the 12 o’clock mark.  This watch has become an iconic symbol of modern design and was the first watch to ever be chosen as part of a permanent display at the Museum of Modern Art, in New York.

Movado’s delicate designs distinguish them from other watchmakers and that style, naturally transitioned the company into jewelry making.  With boutiques around the world, Movado offers exquisite jewelry made from 18 ct. gold, gemstones, and their patented 114 facet Movado Diamond.

Movado, literally translates into, “always in motion”, and that standard is what sets Movado apart.  I for one, believe that young entrepreneur would be proud and excited to see that his vision has been expanded beyond his own imagination.  Movado is style, design, and innovation at its best.

Oris Swiss Watches One Hundred Year History

Over one hundred years ago, a couple of watchmakers from Holstein, Switzerland got together and created an extraordinary timepiece. They did this by taking over a closed watch factory and turning it into the Oris watch company that we know and love today.

By the year 1921, this new watch company already had ten watch factories spread across Switzerland, and it was time to start turning their pocket watches into wristwatches. Decades later, it is easy to see that their clean, no-nonsense interpretation of the wristwatch is what has set Oris apart from other watch makers.

In the 1940’s, Oris started making clocks, which dramatically increased sales for the company, as they became a pioneer in making clocks with an 8-day power supply.

By 1965, Oris was considered one of the ten biggest watch manufacturers in all of Switzerland, and it was then that the Oris automatic movement was born. This innovation was what spawned production of the famous Oris 645 self-winding movement.

Oris continues to improve upon its designs from the 70’s, like the Chronoris, which was the company’s first foray into chronograph watches. To this day, some of the most iconic and sophisticated Swiss watches are made by this legendary company that started in Holstein Switzerland over 100 years ago.

The movement is designed to transfer energy to different parts of its components to compensate for gravitational forces exerted on it.
